So we have several tips for you to stop you getting caught out during this winter period of driving.
Service your vehicle is needed
If your car is in need of a services it’s always best to get this done before the winter weather sets in.
Check on your battery
Don’t get caught out, flat batteries are a common reason for winter time breakdowns. Get them checked and replaced if necessary.
Clean windscreens and topped up washer fluid
Keep your windscreen clean on the outside and in to decrease dazzle from low sunlight, keep washer fluid topped up to deal with increased amounts of dirt and grime and now is also a good time to replace any wiper blades that are worn.
Help locks to stop freezing up
Spraying locks with a little WD-40 can help prevent them from freezing up in the cold weather.
Tyres should have a minimum of 3mm’s of thread to maintain good traction and tyre pressure should be
checked more vigilantly at this time of year.
Check lights regularly to ensure they are clean so they can provide adequate visibility on the road.
Stay on top of fuel levels
It is a good idea to maintain a minimum of a ¼ of a tank of fuel at all times in case of any unforeseen delays.
Don’t forget about your antifreeze
Check regularly and top up when necessary to avoid any unwanted freezing
